For all you legal eagles.

If someone wrote to a company and suggested a product sales line, a long time before they made and sold this particular line, and they acknowledged you saying they'd look into it, and then some time later they started making and selling this particular line, and it was very popular, do you think the person making the suggestion would be entitled to any commission or anything? Bearing in mind they had the irrefutable proof that this line was their idea?
