I have to say I have some sympathy with the management at Newcastle.
Following our experiences with wor Kev and his chum McKay, if I were in charge at Newcastle I would want to keep a very tight leash on KK. As I am sure many of your will remember, Private Eye investigated some of his dealings and allegedly he was benefiting financially from at least a few of the transfers that took place at our place - and potentially explains the arrival of some of the dross we were landed with under his reign.
No doubt Ashley was well aware of KK's past, and brought in Dennis Wise, executive director (football), and Tony Jimenez, vice-president (player recruitment) to ensure that such shenanigans wouldn't happen again.
Whilst KK may well be miffed that he couldn't bring in and sell who he wants, if one were less charitable about his motives then perhaps one might believe his reasons were more financially motivated than just the issue of control over footballing matters.
